So, at about 4am on Friday July 11th my water broke and Doug and I headed to the hospital. They started pitocin and the contractions came on fast and strong. Then came the epidural....sweet relief! At about 5pm I was finally able to start pushing and at 6:38pm Sam came into the world. He was perfect dispite the minor complications. My midwife and doctor had to use the vacuum to try and turn him around (he was trying to come out face up) and then his shoulder got caught up under my pubic bone. But none the less, he was great. He weighed 8lbs 4ozs and was 20 1/4 inches long. Doug then followed him down to the nursery to take pictures while they cleaned him up. Check out the serious conehead!
