So, this is the back of the house. It was originally built as a back porch with a loft in 1925 which was later converted into this small studio apartment. It's nasty.....I can't believe someone actually lived here. We had the foundation repaired after lifting this house since it was sagging in the back. We also installed a new front door for this apartment with windows to allow more light in there. We will also be building a small deck that will cover up the ugly cement stairs up to the apartment. That way the tenent will have a small outdoor living area to put a grill, table, chairs, etc...
This is a life journal of our comings and goings here in Georgia for our family and friends.

The foyer of Corbin
This is the foyer of the Corbin house.....one apartment opens to the left....the other to the right. We are knocking out the wall directly in front of you as you walk in to make a centrally located laundry room. We are taking part of the closet from the right apartment to make this. Once again, nasty layers of wallpaper and damaged plaster walls. Needless to say, Doug has developed a new trade since buying this property.......repairing plaster walls.
Updates on the Corbin house
Things are starting to move along.......you can see what the ceiling looked like before the wallpaper (yes....wallpaper on the CEILING! Oh, and there were 2-3 layers of it.) came off, then after Doug slaved away removing it, and then the walls painted. The ceilings are taking two coats of oil based primer and then two coats of latex paint but it's worth it.....the tongue and groove ceiling is beautiful.
She's growing up.....and preparing us for baby world!
